After crunching the numbers, looking at scores and comparing results, it is looking like our first week of NFL predictions with the ladies is going to be a tie.
We had most games the same, but there were three games where we took opposite teams and ALIKAT took the Under on the Dolphins at Browns game, while we took the Browns to cover. The line was at minus-4 for Cleveland and the Yardstick was predicting at least a 5-point victory. It was a bit of a shootout and the final result was Browns 41, Dolphins 31, pushing Over the total and covering for us.
The other games we had different were:
1) Carolina at Arizona – the girls took the Panthers at plus-4.5, while the Yardstick said Cards to win by at least three. Carolina, behind Vinny Testaverde, won 25-10, giving the nod to the ladies.
2) St. Louis at Baltimore – While the line was at 9 for the Ravens, the Yardstick predicted a closer game, pointing towards at least a 6-point Ravens win. Led by Rams quarterback Gus Frerotte’s five INTs, the ladies took this game as well.
3) Minnesota at Chicago – While the ladies took the Bears to win by more than five points, the Yardstick suggested they would win by at least a field goal. Since we’ll only take the line when the Yardstick is bigger or tied, we went with the Vikings and they won 34-31.
Unless something drastic happens, we will both be taking the Giants to win and cover on the road in Atlanta. The girls have them at minus-three, while the Yardstick predicts at least a six-point win. If the Giants win by four or more, we will both have seven correct predictions this week.
